The Wereldmuseum Rotterdam is a museum about cultures in the present and the past. Since September 4, 2020, the renovation has been complete with the opening of the exhibition Remix Rotterdam and Kruispunt Rotterdam. With the renovation of the Wereldmuseum and the new exhibition layout, the city has its worldly museum back; a modern museum for and by Rotterdam with its wealth of cultures. In the new Wereldmuseum you will get to know a contemporary museum in which the impressive Rotterdam collection is central. Because the Wereldmuseum is a museum for and by Rotterdammers.
 
A collection that contains more than 83,000 objects; objects that have been collected by Rotterdammers since the 19th century. Especially in this super-diverse city, the museum with its global collection can play a connecting role. The Wereldmuseum shows that, despite our differences, we are all the same: human. 

Exhibitions

Kruispunt Rotterdam 

In the exhibition Kruispunt Rotterdam 

The museum places its collection in a contemporary context. Supplemented with new works by artists and Rotterdammers who were inspired by the museum's collection. As a kind of dialogue between then and now, far away and close by. Kruispunt Rotterdam makes it clear that Rotterdam has always brought the world closer, starting with the (trade) voyages and today it houses the world with over 170 nationalities.  

Colonialism and Rotterdam 

The exhibition shows how the global legacy of colonialism continues to affect the city and where local, national and international histories come together. In five different themes, the city's history will be presented in relation to world history until 3 November 2024, and will provide examples of how the past still has a daily impact on the present. By sharing history, we shape the future. Visitors are therefore invited to ask themselves the question: which history do you pass on?

Accessibility

The Wereldmuseum is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle. Paid parking is available around the museum. From 6:00 PM, you can park for free at Parklaan and surrounding streets. Consult Google Maps for the exact route from your starting point and for current departure and travel times.
