The Wereldmuseum Amsterdam is a museum about world cultures, housed in an impressive national monument located at the Oosterpark, in the heart of Amsterdam East, dating from 1926. Exhibitions

Things That Matter is an exhibition about important things and the importance of things: objects of great personal significance that are at the same time closely linked to today's social issues, such as migration and origin.  

At the exhibition Our Story you will learn more about the colonial history of the museum, the world-famous collection and the architecture of the museum building.

Also visit the exhibition: Our Colonial Heritage. The exhibition shows how colonialism has helped shape today's world and how people endured colonialism. Learn how people tried to create their own lives, rebelled and tried to remain in control of their own lives.
