Cheerful, exciting and full of imagination
The children's performances are suitable for children aged 5 and over and are packed with humour, adventure and surprises. Colourful characters come to life in extraordinary sets, accompanied by specially composed music and songs. There are different stories to discover, making every return visit a brand-new experience.
A complete afternoon out
During the performance, young and old alike are swept away into an imaginative world. A drink and a theatre cake are included with the regular children's performances. This makes a visit to Kooman’s Puppet Theatre a fun and complete outing for the whole family.
The Umbrella Bird – 16 and 23 September
Sumba, the pink Umbrella Bird, flees the tropical rainforest when her tree is cut down. She ends up in a crate and is shipped to the harbour of a small, sunny island. There, she meets a patchwork cat and Wasco the Raccoon, who join her in searching for a new home. But when Sumba suddenly disappears, things get exciting...
The Monkey Bread Tree – 30 September and 7 October
Wasco the Raccoon is asked to deliver a parcel for the postman on Bald Mountain. He packs his little tent and sets off. While camping, he meets Max the Mole and they continue their journey together. Then, suddenly, the parcel is empty. Do the Apennines know more about it? Wasco builds a machine and discovers why the Monkey Bread Tree is so special.
The Walking Hat – 14 October
In this performance by Kooman’s Puppet Theatre, a nephew of Wasco the Raccoon is getting married. That is why he gets to wear a top hat. It soon turns out to be a very special hat: it can walk. The hat walks from a little rabbit to a clumsy magician and then to a white dove to help them. But the wedding is about to begin and the whole family has been invited. Where is the hat?
Swaffie the Seal – 4 November
A fisherman gets too close to the Sour Sea Woman with his fishing rod, and she casts a spell on him. Suddenly, he has the face of a fish. Swaffie the Seal wants to help him and goes with Wasco the Raccoon to the lighthouse keeper. He sings a clever little fish out of the sea, which puts the pair on the trail of the Sour Sea Woman. Will Swaffie manage to help the poor fisherman?
Seven Sleepers – 11 November
Wasco the Raccoon has two special little friends: Mies and Dorus, the seven sleepers. In the sweet shop, they find a suitable spot for their winter sleep. But when Mies and Wasco take a bite of a strange sweet, they are bewitched. Could Kobus the Jackdaw have something to do with it? Wasco and Dorus set off to break the spell!
