More information
Railway Museum is located in the historic Maliebaan station in the heart of Utrecht. This monumental building is the start of a fascinating journey through the history of trains. The beautifully decorated entrance hall provides a royal welcome, and there is a real royal train on the platform. But the museum is more than just looking at trains, the various attractions of the museum bring the world of the railway to life.
For example, start with the ‘Great Discovery’. A mine lift takes you back in time, to when the steam engine had yet to be invented. Pause here for a moment and admire the first Dutch steam locomotive, De Arend. Continue your museum visit in ‘Droomreizen’. In the theatre hall, stories are told about the famous Orient Express, actors take you back to the heyday of international train travel around 1900. ‘Steel Monsters’ is an exciting attraction where you take a bloodcurdling rollercoaster ride past life-size trains and locomotives. In ‘De Vuurproef’ you are taken on a surprising and spectacular journey through almost two centuries of railway history. In the Techlab you will learn everything about the technology of the train. Finally, in the large museum hall are the crown jewels of the Dutch railway, the impressive steam locomotives and antique carriages bring long-gone times back to life.

Best spannend.
