Discover the four iconic museums in Alkmaar: 1. The Beatles Museum Young or old, who doesn't know the Beatles? John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr: all huge names in the music world. In the Cultural Corner of Alkmaar – close to the station – the "Beatles Museum Alkmaar" has secured a place. In this museum, you will find the largest private collection about the popular group from the 60s and 70s, The Beatles. In a gigantic building, you will find a display of unique items from the Fab Four from Liverpool spread over a space of 2,525 m². No Beatles museum can compete with the items on display here. Forty-one years of collecting, starting over several times, and then seeing your dream come true. That is what you can experience in this special museum. Enjoy special audio and video recordings in the specially designed room. Have your picture taken on Abbey Road or in front of the enormous Sgt. Pepper album cover. Guided tours are available, and there are various themed exhibitions! 2. The Elvis Museum The Elvis Museum is a paradise for every Elvis fan. Thousands of items are displayed in beautiful display cases, and along the walls are the Elvis LPs he released during his lifetime. Gold records, clothing, personal items, souvenirs, rare records, and signed memorabilia. It's all there. The Beatles and Elvis museums are truly inextricably linked. You simply have to experience this. Want to have your picture taken with Elvis? No problem. You can do that at the museum. A visit to our Elvis store is also well worth it. With over 5,000 LPs, the Elvis store is even the largest Elvis record store in the Netherlands, and the souvenir/CD/DVD shop is also more than worth a visit.

3. The Pirate Radio Museum The Beatles and Elvis Museums already existed, but the Pirate Radio Museum was developed especially for our museum. Hans Hettelder spent over twenty years building these beautiful models of pirate radio ships that were so important for the distribution of pop music in Europe, especially in the sixties and seventies. The ships have been rebuilt to scale, and visitors also have the opportunity to learn more about the ships and their history. We all know the ships from Veronica, Mi Amigo or Radio Noordzee, but there were many more. These can all be admired in the museum. 4. From Audio to Video: The History of Sound and Vision Are you curious about the development of audio and video equipment? Then a visit to this new museum is a must. Here you will get a unique overview of the history of radio to videodisc players. Discover iconic recorders from brands like Philips and Sony, and see how these technologies changed the world of sound and vision. In the special cinema Let It Beos you can delve deeper into the history of video recorders. It's a nostalgic journey back in time you won't want to miss! Accessibility The museum is easy to reach from the station: turn left towards the buses, walk straight towards the canal, cross the footbridge and you will arrive at Pettemerstraat, where the museum is located at number 12A. The museum is easily accessible and there is ample parking nearby (parking costs approximately €4 per day). After your visit, you can leave the car and explore Alkmaar's city centre, just a 10-minute walk away.
