ZOOM Erlebniswelt in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from the Dutch eastern border. Experience a journey around the world in one day across an area of more than 30 hectares. Discover the continents of Alaska, Africa and Asia, home to more than 900 animals representing 100 different species. The enclosures are designed to be as natural as possible, recreating the animals' original habitats. For the youngest visitors, there is also the indoor playground Drachenland, where children can let off steam on imaginative play and climbing equipment.

Alaska

The Alaska area combines typical natural scenery with various animals from this wintry North American region. In addition to the brown bear, the world's largest land predator, you can also spot moose, lynxes and wolves here. In the impressive glass underwater tunnel, visitors dive straight into the world of sea lions. 

Africa 

Africa's vast savannahs provide a natural habitat for 400 animals. Only a pane of glass separates the lions from visitors. Come face to face with giraffes, zebras, antelopes, ostriches and rhinos. Further on, you can observe chimpanzees in their spacious enclosure, and during an exciting boat trip, you will sail past hippos, flamingos and baboons. 

Asia

The Asia area brings the exoticism of the Far East to the heart of the Ruhr region. The stars of the ever-green landscape are the Siberian tigers. Lush bamboo forests, grasslands and steppe landscapes are home to orangutans, Asian small-clawed otters, langurs, red pandas, porcupines and camels. The "Canopy Walk", a 5-metre-high path through the treetops, offers a unique panoramic view. At the "ELE Tropical Paradise", visitors can experience a tropical atmosphere and the remarkable diversity of 3,600 plants. The ever-green jungle is home to a large community of free-flying birds, as well as reptiles and flying foxes.
